Safety Instructions
Usage other than what has been specified here may result in serious injury. When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:
- Read all instructions before using the appliance.
- To avoid fire or shock hazard, plug the appliance directly into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
- To avoid fire hazard, NEVER put the cord under rugs, near heat registers, radiators, stoves, or heaters.
- To protect against electrical hazards, DO NOT immerse in water or other liquids. Do not use near water.
- Children cannot recognize the hazards associated with the use of electrical appliances.
- For this reason, always supervise children when they are near the unit.
- NEVER drop or insert any object into any openings.
- DO NOT run cord under carpeting.
- DO NOT cover the cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings.
- DO NOT route cord under furniture or appliances.
- Arrange the cord away from the traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
- Use the appliance only for the intended household use as described in this manual.
- DO NOT use outdoors. DO NOT place anything on top of the unit.
- NEVER block the air openings, grills/outlets, or place on a soft surface such as a bed or sofa, as this could cause the unit to tip over, blocking the air intake or outtake opening.
The 8-hour TWA Ozone for this product is 0.001 ppmv when tested in a 30 m3 chamber. The product complies with the maximum allowable concentration of ozone of 0.050 parts per million by volume (ppmv) in 24 hours. The Health Canada Guideline 2010 recommends that the maximum exposure limit, based on an averaging time of 8 hours, is 0.020 ppmv or less when tested in a sealed, controlled room approximately 30 m3.

Filters last approximately 6-8 months, depending on use.
Operation
- Select a firm, level, and flat location for the air purifier.
- For the Guardian AC4020 Air Cleaning System, ensure proper air flow.
- Locate the unit at least 1 foot from any wall or furniture. Make sure none of the grills are blocked.
- Carefully remove your air purifier from the box and bag.
- Determine the preferred position of the purifier based on space and preference.
- Plug the power cord into a 120V AC outlet.
- Turn unit power ON. Select fan speed MODE 1 – 3 (I = lowest speed setting; III = highest speed setting)
- UV light will run when the unit is on.
Filter Replacment
To maintain the performance of the air cleaner, it is recommended that the filter be replaced about every 6 months. The replacement requirements will vary depending Guardian AC4020 Air Cleaning System on usage and environmental conditions.
- It’s time to replace the filter when the white Guardian AC4020 Air Cleaning System HEPA cartridge portion has changed from white to grey or black. OR
UV-C Bulb Replacement
- Lift and remove the Rear Cover from the unit.
- After removing the Rear Cover from the unit, remove the Combination Filter.
- After removing the Combination Filter, use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the screw and detach the UV-C Shield.
- The UV-C Bulb is removed by carefully grasping the bulb with a clean cloth or tissue and pulling the bulb straight out of the unit (Figure 4).
Cleaning & Maintainance
Always unplug the unit before cleaning or servicing in any way. Do NOT use gasoline, benzine, thinner, harsh cleaners, etc. on and/or in the unit while cleaning, as they will damage the product. NEVER use alcohol or other solvents. Do NOT stick any foreign objects or your fingers inside the unit.
- Wipe the surface of the unit with a clean, dry soft cloth as needed.
- Clean the Filter monthly with the brush of your vacuum cleaner.
- Remove and Clean (or Replace) Filter.
Troubleshooting
- The unit does not operate
Check that the unit is plugged in. - No air is circulating from the unit
Unplug the unit. Check Pre-Filter/Charcoal and HEPA Filters. Clean Pre-Filter/Charcoal if necessary. Replace the HEPA Filter if necessary. - Increase in noise level.

To the consumer, Guardian Technologies LLC warrants this product to be free of defects in materials or
