Safety Instructions
- Avoid direct eye exposure. The laser beam can cause severe eye damage and/or blindness. Do not stare into the laser beam or direct it towards other people unnecessarily.
- Do not operate the laser around children or allow children to operate the laser. The reflective surface could reflect the beam at the operator or other persons.
- Use of controls, adjustments, or the performance of procedures other than those specified in the manual may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
- When the laser is brought into a warm environment from very cold conditions, or vice versa, allow it to come to the surrounding temperature before use.
- Always store the cross laser indoors, avoid substantial knocks, continuous vibration or extreme temperatures.
- Always keep the tool away from dust, liquids, and high humidity. These may damage internal components or affect accuracy.
- If laser radiation hits your eye, you must close your eyes and immediately turn your head away from the beam.
- Do not position the laser beam so that it unintentionally blinds you or others.
- Do not look into a laser beam using magnifying optical devices such as binoculars or a telescope, as this will increase the level of eye injury.

Change Batteries
- Change the batteries when the laser beams begin to dim.
- If the cross laser is not in use for a long period of time, remove the batteries from the battery compartment. This will prevent batteries from leaking and causing corrosion damage.
Fuel Gauge
After switching on the laser, the fuel gauge will display the battery life.
POWER SAVE
- Use power save mode to extend the battery run time.
- Power save mode is indicated by dimmed laser beams and the power save indicator pulsing. Visual range is decreased in power save mode.
- Power save indicator will change from pulsing to solid Green when turned OFF.
- The tool will automatically switch to power save mode if less than 7% of battery charge remains.
Track Clip
- Fix the track clip with screws to a pillar.
- Or clamp the track clip to ceiling channels, racks….
Magnetic Wall Mount
- Use the magnetic wall mount to fix the laser to a wall or metallic structures, or similar. Or fix it with a screw or nail on a pillar.
- Turn the laser 360°. Use the adjustment knob for 20° pivot micro adjustment.
Green Target Plate
Use the green target plate to improve visibility of the laser beam in unfavourable conditions and at greater
distances.
Tripod Mount
Use the tripod mount to fix the laser on a tripod.
Self-Leveling Mode
- Place the cross laser on a solid, flat, vibration-free surface or a tripod.
- Turn the rotation dial to position. The cross laser can generate 2 laser beams and 4 laser points.

- The cross laser will generate forward cross beams, including 4 laser points, when all beams are activated.
- Choose the beams that you want to work with by pushing the MODE button.

Manual Mode
In manual mode, the classer’s self-leveling mechanism is disabled, and the laser lines can be set at
any slope required.
- Place the cross laser on a solid, flat, vibration-free surface or a tripod.
- Turn the rotation dial to position.
Same as in the self-leveling mode, but the laser beams are interrupted every 8 seconds.
- Choose the beams that you want to work with by pushing the operation push button.
Tilt the laser using a tripod and adjust to the desired angle and height.
- To turn the Manual mode off, turn the rotation dial or turn the rotation dial.
Functions
With the plumb function, a point on the floor and the ceiling can be projected. Use the plumb function, e.g., to transfer reference points for light installation, vents, and transfer of heights.
Dectector
For outdoor work under direct sunlight or bright conditions and extended indoor ranges of up to 50 meters / 164 feet, use the Milwaukee detector. A detector is not included and must be purchased separately. For information on how to operate the detector, please refer to the operating instructions for the detector.
Accuracy Check
This cross laser left the factory fully calibrated. Milwaukee recommends that the user check the accuracy of the laser periodically, especially if the unit falls or is mishandled. If the maximum deviation of the laser is exceeded in one of the accuracy checks, please contact one of our Milwaukee service agents (see our list of guarantee/service addresses).

Before checking the laser accuracy, after mounting the laser on the tripod, check the leveling of the
tripod.
Height Accuracy
- Set up the laser on a tripod or a flat surface between two walls, A and B, approximately 10 meters apart.
- Position the laser level approximately 0.5 meters from wall A.
- Switch ON the self-leveling mode and press the mode button to project the horizontal and the vertical cross beams towards wall A.
- Mark the center of the cross beams on the wall as A1.
- Turn the laser 180° towards wall B and mark the center of the cross beams as b1 on the wall.
- Move the laser level towards wall B and position it approximately 0.5 meters fromwall Bvv
- Mark on wall B the center of the cross beams as b2. If the b1 & b2 are not overlapping, adjust the tripod height to make sure b1& b2overlapg
- Turn the laser 180° towards wall A, and mark on the wall the center of the cross beams as a2.
- Measure the distances: Δa= |a2 – a1|
- . Δa should be no more than 6 mm.
Horizontal Beam
For this check, a free surface of approx. 10 x 10 meters is required.
- Set up the laser on a tripod or a solid surface between two walls, A and B, approximately 5 meters apart.
- Position the laser level approximately 5 meters from the center of the room.
- Switch ON the self-leveling mode and press the mode button to project the horizontal line towards wall A and B.
- Mark the center of the laser line point a1 on wall A and point b1 on wall B.
- Move the laser level approximately 10 meters away and turn the laser 180° toward walls A and B.
- Mark the center of the laser line point a2 on wall A and point b2 on wall B.
- Measure the distances
- Δa= |a2- a1|
- Δb= |b1- b2|
- The difference | Δa – Δb| should be no more than 6 mm
Vertical Beam
- Hang an approximately 2 m plumb line on a wall.
- After the plumb line has settled, mark point A1a1 on the wall, behind the plumb line, near the plumb cone.
- Set up the cross laser on a tripod or a flat surface in front of the wall at a distance of approximately 2.5 m.
- Switch ON the self-leveling mode, and press the mode button to project the vertical beam towards the plumb line.
- Turn the laser so that the vertical beam will merge with the plumb line below the hanging point.
- Mark point A2 on the wall, in the middle of the vertical beam at the same height as A1.
- The distance between a1 and a2 should be no more than 0.75 mm.
Checking Plumb Accuracy
- Set up the cross laser on a tripod.
- Switch ON the self-leveling mode and press the mode button to switch to the plump function.
- Mark the upper plumb dot on the ceiling as point a1 (see the illustration).
- Mark the lower plumb dot on the floor as point b.
- Mark the center of the upper plumb dot on the ceiling as point a2.
- The distance between points a1 and a2 marked on the ceiling is an indication of the actual deviation of the laser level from the ideal plumb line.
- If the measuring distance is 5m, the maximum permissible deviation is: 5 m x (+/- 0.3 mm/m) x 2 = +/ – 3 mm.
- The distance between a1 and a2 should not be more than 6 mm.
Squaring Procedure
- Mark a reference (point x) on the floor that is equidistant from each wall in the center of a room.
- Turn ON the laser and switch to the “Unlocked” position. Ensure Milwaukee M12 CLL4P 12V Cross Line Laser that the laser is in Perpendicular Level, Plumb Points, and Horizontal Points mode (all lasers ON).
- Using the down plumb point, align the laser directly over the center of point (x) on the floor.
- With the laser in place, mark point (I) at the intersection of the lines directly in front of the laser on wall A. Without moving the laser, also mark the center of the right Horizontal point (II) on wall B.
- Rotate the laser 90 degrees clockwise around the plumb point (x) and align the left Horizontal dot with the previously marked point I.
- With the laser in position, mark point (III) on wall B at the intersection of the perpendicular lines directly in front of the laser. Without moving the laser, mark point (IV) on wall C using the right horizontal point.
- The deviation (d) between points II & III should be no more than 3 mm at 10 m.
- Lastly, rotate the laser 180º clockwise around the plumb point (x) so that the right horizontal point is aligned with the previously marked point I. Without moving the laser, use the left horizontal point mark (V) on wall C.
- The deviation (d) between points IV & V should be no more than 3 mm at 10 m.
Maintainance
Wipe the aperture lens and the body of the cross laser with a clean soft cloth. Do not use solvents. Although the cross laser is dust and dirt-resistant to a certain degree, do not store it in dusty places, as long-term exposure may damage internal moving parts. If the cross laser is exposed to water, dry the laser level before returning it to the carrying case to prevent corrosion damage.
