    Understanding the Functions

The power and temperature modes work independently of each other. Use the temperature mode to set a specific temperature for cooking. If a specific temperature is not needed, use the power mode. For example, to boil water, use a high power setting. To fry or brown food, use the temperature mode so your food does not burn.

    5. Press and hold the + (increase) or – (decrease) button to increase or decrease the cooking time by 10 minutes.
    6. When you are finished adjusting the settings, the display blinks for several seconds, then the cooktop starts counting down.
    7. When the countdown is complete, the cooktop automatically stops heating and switches off.

    Locking and Unlocking

    1. You can lock your cooktop to prevent unsupervised use.
    2. Press the (lock) button.
    3. The LOCK indicator on the front of the cooktop lights, and only the power button can be used to switch off the cooktop.
    4. Press and hold the (lock) button for several seconds to unlock your cooktop.
    5. The LOCK indicator turns off.

    Compatible Cookware

Your cooktop will not operate without the correct cookware. In general, if a magnet sticks to the bottom of the cookware, it will work on your cooktop.

    Insignia-NS-IC1ZBK8-Induction-Cooktop-FIG-3

After the first use, some white spots may appear at the bottom of the cookware. This is normal. To remove the spots, pour some vinegar into the cookware and heat it to between 140° and 176° F (60° and 80° C), then wipe the spots away with a brush.

    Cleaning and Maintenance

    • Always unplug the power cord and allow the cooktop to cool down completely before cleaning.
    • Never immerse the cooktop or power cord in water, or allow moisture to contact these parts.
    • After using the cooktop for a long time, the air inlet/air outlet opening can accumulate dust or other debris. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth.
    • Dust in the air inlet and outlet can also be cleaned by using a soft brush or a mini-vacuum cleaner. Do not rinse with water.
    • For oil spots on the cooktop plate, wipe Insignia NS-IC1ZBK8 Induction Cooktop with a soft, moist cloth with a little toothpaste or mild detergent until no stain remains.
    • When not using your cooktop for a long time, disconnect the power plug from the wall outlet and protect it from dust or debris.

    FAQs

Q: How does the induction cooktop work?

Compared to conventional electric or gas stoves, the hob employs electromagnetic energy to directly heat compatible cookware, enabling speedier cooking and more energy efficiency. There is less chance of burns because the hob surface itself stays comparatively cool.

Q: What types of cookware are compatible?

This induction hob is only compatible with ferromagnetic cookware. Cast iron, enamelled steel, and some stainless steel pots and pans are a few examples. Hold a magnet to the pan’s bottom to check compatibility; if it adheres, the cookware is suitable.

Q: Can I use glass, aluminum, or copper pans?

No, non-magnetic materials will not function correctly and may fail to heat or cause an error code.

Q: How do I turn the cooktop on and off?

Holding down the power button will cause the display to turn on. After using it, wait a few seconds for the residual heat signal to go away before pressing the power button once more to switch it off.

Q: What safety features are included?

The hob features a child lock feature, overheat prevention, and automatic shut-off. Additionally, it prevents unintentional activation by detecting when no appropriate cookware is present.

Q: How do I adjust the temperature or power?

To choose the preferred temperature or power level, use the touch control panel.

Q: Can I use the cooktop on a countertop?

Yes, but the surface needs to be sturdy, level, and resistant to heat. Avoid positioning the hob close to combustible objects and allow enough room around it for ventilation.
