    FAQs

What type of sander is the Clarke CAT160 X-PRO, and what does “dual action” mean?
The CAT160 X-PRO is a dual-action palm sander that is powered by air. “Dual action” refers to the combination of orbital and rotary movements, which minimise swirl marks and produce a smooth, superior finish that is perfect for surface preparing, polishing, and sanding.

What size sanding discs does the CAT160 X-PRO use?
It is made to work with hook-and-loop sanding discs that are 150mm (6 inches). If dust extraction is necessary, make sure you use compatible discs with the appropriate hole pattern.

Can this sander be used on wood, metal, and plastic?
Indeed, a variety of materials, including wood, metal, plastics, and body filler, can be used with the CAT160 X-PRO. Simply choose the appropriate grit for the job—finer grits for finishing, coarser grits for removing heavier materials.

Does the CAT160 have an adjustable speed?
Indeed, it has a speed regulator that can be adjusted to change the sanding speed according to the material and task. Higher speeds are good for forceful sanding, while lower speeds are best for delicate work.

What type of lubrication does the sander require?
Apply air tool oil before and after usage, either directly into the air inlet or through the airline.

What’s the best way to hold and control the CAT160 while sanding?
Let the weight and motion of the instrument do the work by using a light, steady grip. Excessive pressure can result in fatigue and uneven sanding. For a steady finish, move the tool in slow, overlapping passes.
