    Connection & Operation

    INPUT A / INPUT

    • Audio input with 6.3 mm jack sockets.
    • Connect an instrument using a shielded instrument cable.
    • Connect the speaker output of a guitar amplifier using a speaker cable.

    THRU A/THRU B

    • The input signal is output unchanged via the 6.3 mm jack sockets (INPUT A -> THRU A / INPUT B -> THRU B).

PAD A/PAD B (passive attenuation device)

    • Press the corresponding switch to reduce the output signal level by 30 dB.
    • The output level must be lowered if the channel input stage of the connected mixer or audio interface is overdriven.

For users looking to add high-quality tube-driven tonal shaping to their setup, the Palmer PSUPSOAK Supreme Analog Dynamic Tube can be used alongside the DI box for enhanced sound quality and dynamic control.

Audio input and output connections for balanced signal transfer in professional recording environments.

    DC 9–24 V
    • Low-voltage socket for connecting an external mains adapter with 9 to 24 V DC voltage and a minimum of 100 mA (both polarity types possible; mains adapter optionally available).

    LIFT / GND A – LIFT / GND B – LIFT / GND A+B

    • Switch for disconnecting the ground connection between the corresponding channel’s input and output (ground lift).
    • The ability to prevent a humming loop using the ground lift switch depends on the grounding of the connected devices.
    • It is therefore possible that either switch position effectively reduces or eliminates humming.
    OUTPUT A/OUTPUT B
    • Balanced audio output with male three-pin XLR sockets. Use a balanced, shielded cable (for example, a microphone cable) to connect the DI box to a mixer’s or audio interface’s balanced output.

    OUTPUT A+B

    • Balanced audio output with male three-pin XLR socket. Channel A and B signals are mono-summed here. Use a balanced, shielded cable (for example, a microphone cable) to connect the DI box to a mixer’s or audio interface’s balanced output.PAD and ground lift switches for reducing unwanted noise and humming in live or studio setups.

Connection ExamplesDC 9–24 V low-voltage socket for powering audio devices with an external adapter.

    FAQs

Q: Does it have multiple channels?

Indeed, it has two different channels with independent ground-lift, input, and output controls. This makes it possible to utilise two instruments at once.

Q: What is the ground lift switch for?

When connecting to a mixing console or PA system, the ground lift switch aids in removing hum or ground loop noise. If you hear humming or buzzing in the signal, turn it on.

Q: Can it handle high-output active pickups?

Indeed. The active DI box is adaptable to various instruments and signal levels since it can handle both passive and active pickups.

Q: Can I use it with long cables?

Indeed. Unlike passive connections, active DI boxes preserve signal integrity and reduce noise, making them perfect for lengthy wire runs.

Q: Does it have a bypass feature?

There isn’t a specific bypass option, but you can feed a balanced signal to the mixer and route the raw signal to an amplifier using the parallel output.

Q: Can it be used with acoustic instruments with pickups?

Indeed. It produces a clear, balanced signal for live or studio applications when used with acoustic guitars, violins, or other instruments that use piezo pickups.

    Q: What’s the frequency response?

The wide frequency response of the PAN 04 A, which usually ranges from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, guarantees precise instrument tone reproduction.
