    SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read all warnings, safety instructions and other instructions. Failure to follow all the instructions and safety instructions can result in the risk of electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury. Save these instructions and safety instructions for future reference. The term power tool in the warnings below refers to your mains-powered (corded) or battery-powered (cordless) power tool.

    WORK AREA

    • Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Dark and cluttered work areas increase the risk of accidents and injuries.
    • Do not use power tools in explosive environments, such as in the vicinity of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools produce sparks that can ignite dust and fumes.
    • Keep children and onlookers at a safe distance when using power tools.
    • You can easily lose control of the tool if you are distracted.
    ELECTRICAL SAFETY
    • The plug on the power tool must match the power outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Never use an adapter with earthed power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets reduce the risk of electric shock.
    • Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
    • Do not expose power tools to rain or moisture. There is a greater risk of electric shock if water gets into a power tool.
    • Be careful with the power cord. Never use the power cord to carry or pull the power tool, or to pull out the plug from the mains. Keep the power cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged or tangled power cords increase the risk of electric shock
    • Only use an extension cord approved for outdoor use. Cords intended for outdoor use reduce the risk of electric shock.
    • If it is absolutely necessary to use power tools in damp conditions, use a power point protected by a residual current device RDC. Using an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
    PERSONAL SAFETY
    • Avoid accidental starting. Check that the power switch is in the OFF position before plugging in the power cord and/or the battery, or lifting/carrying the tool. Carrying a power tool with your finger on the switch, or connecting a tool to the mains supply when the switch is in the ON position, increases the risk of accidents and injuries.
    • Remove Allen keys/spanners, etc., before starting the power tool.
    • Allen keys, or the like, left in a rotating part of a power tool can cause personal injury
    • Do not overreach. Always maintain a firm footing and good balance. This will ensure you have better control over the tool in unexpected situations
    • Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose-fitting clothing, jewellery and long hair can get caught in moving parts.
    • If dust extraction and dust collection equipment are available, these should be connected and used correctly. The use of such devices can reduce the risk of dust-related problems.

USING AND LOOKING AFTER POWER TOOLS

    • Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for the planned work.
    • Pull out the plug and/or remove the battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories or putting the power tool away. These safety precautions reduce the risk of accidentally starting the power tool.
    • Store power tools out of the reach of children when not in use. Never allow children, or anyone who is unfamiliar with the power tool and these instructions, to use the tool. Power tools are dangerous if used by inexperienced persons.
    • Keep the power tool properly maintained. Check that moving parts are properly adjusted and do not jam, and that no parts are incorrectly fitted or damaged. Check for other factors that could affect functionality. If the power tool is damaged, it must be repaired before being used again. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools
    • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and are easier to control.

    SERVICE

The power tool must only be serviced by qualified personnel using identical spare parts. This will ensure that the power tool remains safe to use.

    SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR DRILLING

    • Wear ear protection. Exposure to loud noise can cause hearing impairment.
    • Hold the power tool by the insulated grips when working in areas where the tool may come into contact with concealed electrical cables or its own power cord. Contact with a live cable will cause the metal parts on the tool to also become live and give the user an electric shock.

    USE

    INTENDED USE

    • The hammer drill is intended for percussion drilling and chiselling in concrete, masonry, stone and brick, and for normal drilling in wood, metal and plastic.
    • The hammer drill must only be used together with approved accessories.
    • The hammer drill is intended for private use.
    • Do not modify the hammer drill in any way.

    ASSEMBLY

Accessories fitted to the machine should be clean and lubricated with a thin layer of grease.

    1. Pull back the chuck and hold it in this position. Now twist the accessory until it automatically snaps in place. FIG. 2Meec-Tools-015879-800-W 4 J-Rotary-Hammer-Fig-3
    2. Check that the accessory is properly inserted by pulling it.
    3. Remove the accessory by pulling back the chuck and pulling it out.

    Support handle

    NOTE

    • Always check before use that the handle is correctly and securely fitted.
    • For safety reasons, always use the hammer drill with the support handle.
    1. Fasten the support handle in place by turning the handle clockwise. FIG. 3Meec-Tools-015879-800-W 4 J-Rotary-Hammer-Fig-4
    2. Remove the support handle by turning it anticlockwise.

    Depth stop

    1. Press down the lock button on the support handle and insert the depth stop in mounting hole in the handle. Adjust the depth stop to the required position.
    2. Release the lock button to lock the depth stop in place.

    STARTING/STOPPING

    2. Release the power switch to switch off the hammer drill.

    FUNCTION SELECTOR

    Chiselling

Turn off the drilling mode by turning the selector to the hammer symbol.

    1. Place the tip of the chisel against the surface you want to chisel.
      • In some cases, the tip of the chisel needs to be pressed hard against the surface to activate the percussion function. This is not a malfunction; it is caused by the safety mechanism
to prevent impact when there is no load.
    2. Hold the hammer drill firmly in both hands and use the weight of the tool to counteract the recoil.
      • Do not press the hammer drill too hard; this will have an adverse effect.

    Drilling

To activate the percussion drilling function, turn the selector to the hammer drill symbol.

    Drilling without percussion

Turn the selector to the drill symbol.

    Percussion drilling

Turn the selector to the hammer symbol.

    • Use lubricating grease med good lubricity and a high melting point. Do not overfill; it should be possible to see the connecting rod.
    Carbon brushes

The motor’s carbon brushes are replacement parts. Check the carbon brushes at regular intervals and replace them when they are worn. Always keep the carbon brushes clean and check that they move freely in the brush holders.

    1. Remove the carbon brush cover and the rubber seal.
    2. Check/replace the carbon brushes. FIG. 5Meec-Tools-015879-800-W 4 J-Rotary-Hammer-Fig-6

    Motor
Protect the motor from damage, oil and water.
