    FAQs

What temperature settings or heat levels should I use?

Use only low to medium heat when brewing. Avoid using high power or flame, as this may result in damage or overheating.

Why must I not overfill the water chamber above the safety valve?

Leaks or possibly damage could result from pressure building up above acceptable limits if water is above the safety valve. For the safety valve to work correctly, it must always be above the water line.

Can I use every fine espresso grind or tamp the coffee?

No—using an extremely fine espresso grind or tamping the coffee too tightly can obstruct flow or produce too much pressure. Fill the basket without applying too much pressure, and use a medium-fine grind that is appropriate for moka pots.

Why does the moka pot get extremely hot during use?

Heat is directly conducted by some of the moka pot’s components, particularly the metal surfaces. Burns are a possibility. Never contact the hot body or chamber; always grip just the handle or knob.

Is it safe to leave the moka pot unattended during brewing?

No, the handbook warns against leaving it on heat alone since dry operation or overheating could harm components or result in mishaps.

Can I use this Moka pot for other beverages (e.g., tea, milk)?

No. Only make coffee in the Moka pot. For coffee, the design (materials, temperature, and pressure) is optimised. When used with other liquids, it may harm seals, change flavour, or cause safety problems.

What is the correct coffee grind for a Moka pot?

Use a medium-fine grind, which is not as fine as espresso powder but still finer than drip coffee. Coffee that is too coarse could be weak, while too fine could clog the filter.

How often should I replace the gasket and filter plate?

Depending on how often it is used, it is advised to change the rubber gasket every 6 to 12 months for best results. Although the filter plate might last longer, check it frequently for clogging or warping. If leaks or decreased pressure are noticed, replace right away.
