    Q: What is the Seeed Studio J3011 reComputer Edge AI Device?

    Based on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano module, the Seeed Studio J3011 is a small Edge AI computing platform. It is intended for intelligent edge applications in a power-efficient form factor, including robotics, computer vision, industrial automation, and real-time AI inference.

    Q: What operating system does the J3011 run?

    The device runs Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or later and is integrated with the NVIDIA JetPack SDK, which offers a comprehensive environment for AI and machine learning applications. This SDK includes CUDA, cuDNN, TensorRT, and DeepStream SDK.

    Q: Can I expand the J3011’s storage?

    Indeed. The J3011 supports USB external drives for extra data storage and M.2 NVMe SSDs (2280) for quick storage expansion. For improved performance, you can set up an SSD as the primary boot drive.

    Q: How do I mount the J3011?

    Both DIN-rail and wall-mount installations are supported. Make use of the screws and brackets that are provided. For effective heat dissipation, make sure there is enough ventilation.

    Q: Can I use the J3011 for deep learning training?

    The J3011 is not designed for extensive model training, but rather for AI inference. It can, however, manage fine-tuning (such as transfer learning) or lightweight model retraining with PyTorch or TensorFlow.

    Use a desktop GPU for extensive training, then send the learnt model to the J3011 for inference.

    Q: Does the J3011 support GPU-accelerated video decoding?

    Indeed. The J3011 supports H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and VP9 decoding thanks to NVIDIA Jetson’s hardware acceleration. For GPU-accelerated decoding and analytics, use the DeepStream SDK or GStreamer.
