    Filling the Water Tank

    • Ensure that the steamer is unplugged.
    • Remove the water tank from the base of the appliance by pulling the handle upwards.
    • Unscrew the tank cap and fill the tank.
    • The tank holds 2.35 liters (80 ounces).
    • The steamer must be used with TAP WATER.
    • If the water in your area is hard, Rowenta recommends that you mix half tap water and half distilled water, which reduces the hardness.
    • You can also use bottled spring water.
    • After closing the cap, turn the tank down and hold it by the handle.
    • Check that no water is leaking through the cap.
    • Place the water tank on the base.
    • If you have any difficulty placing it, check that the water tank is not the wrong way round.

    Using the Device

    • Only operate the steamer on the floor, clear of any materials that may obstruct the base of the steamer
    • Do not obstruct the openings on the lower part of the appliance.
    • If necessary, expand the pole to the desired height by unlocking it, pulling it gently, and locking it again.
    • Plug in the power cord, and a beep sound is emitted, and the power light on the front of the appliance turns on.
    •  Hold down the Set/On-Off button located on the steam head for 2 to 3 seconds to switch on the steamer. The steamer starts on the minimum steam output setting.
    • The steam amount can be set to the desired level by successively pressing the Set/On-Off button (5 different settings to perfectly adapt the steam output to all fabric types, from delicate to thick ones).
    • The steamer produces steam in 60 seconds when in the max position of variable steam.
    • Put the garment directly on the rotating hanger or on another hanger that you can hang up on the hook. To steam pants, we advise you to use the two hangers as described in the picture.
    • Grasp the steam head with the steam vents pointing away from you. Start steaming by brushing the material lightly with the grain of the fabric in an up/down vertical motion.
    • The fabric brush opens the weave of the fabrics for better steam penetration.
    • Start at the top of the garment and gradually move downward. Always steam in a vertical position.
    • For more ease, we recommend pulling the garment downward with your free hand while steaming.
    • During use, the hose may make a gurgling noise. This is a normal occurrence due to condensation.
    • If you hear the gurgling noise, hold the hose up to direct the condensation back into the appliance.

    Empty Tank Detector

This appliance is equipped with an empty tank detector. When the water tank is empty, a beep sound is emitted for 1 minute, and the light indicators on the steam head will blink to alert you to fill the water tank.

Turn off the appliance and fill the water tank. The appliance will automatically shut off after 1 minute if the water tank remains empty.

    Auto-Off Function
    • This garment steamer is equipped with the Auto-Off function to ensure optimum safety.
    • Thus, if the steam head stays motionless for 5 minutes, a beep sound will be emitted for 2 minutes before the automatic shut-off.
    • The garment steamer automatically turns to « Energy saving » mode before the automatic shut-off.
    • During this time, the steam output is significantly reduced in order to limit the energy consumption before the appliance completely shuts off.
    • Gently move the steam head to reactivate the appliance.

    After Use

    • After using the steamer, switch the power off by holding down (3 sec.) the Set/Off button.
    • Once the power indicator light turns off, you can unplug the appliance.
    • Hang the steam head in an upright position on the hook when not in use.
    • Turn the hanger vertically if you want to easily store the appliance away.
    • Empty and rinse the water tank each time before storage to flush out any scale particles.
    • Wrap the cord around the power cord clips.
    • Do not carry the steamer by the water tank handle.
    • This appliance includes luggage-style wheels for added convenience when transporting.

    Cleaning

    1. The appliance must be descaled at least once a year or after 50 hours of use.
    2. To carry out a descaling operation, follow the following steps:
    3. Ensure that the appliance has cooled down completely.
    4. Fill the water tank with fresh water and place it on the main unit, allowing water to fill the boiler.
    5. Remove the tank from the main unit and empty the water from the boiler through the same way the water goes inside.
    6. Repeat steps 2 and 3 several times until the scale has been removed.

    FAQs

What type of water should I use in the Rowenta IS5100?

If it’s easy, Rowenta suggests utilising tap water. To avoid mineral accumulation, combine 50% tap water with 50% distilled water if you live in a hard-water location.

Can I use the Rowenta IS5100 on all fabrics?

The majority of textiles, including cotton, silk, wool, linen, and synthetics, are safe to use. Test on a hidden location first for sensitive fabrics. Steer clear of heating suede, leather, or textiles that say “dry-clean only.”

Can I use the IS5100 steamer on upholstery or curtains?

Of course. The IS5100 is great for cleaning bedding, draperies, and upholstery. To prevent too much moisture, always steam vertically and from a close distance. Before you apply steam, make sure the fabric is colourfast.

How long can the Rowenta IS5100 operate on a full tank?

Depending on the steam level setting, a full water tank may produce steam continuously for roughly 60 minutes. To avoid burns, turn the unit off before removing the tank; however, you can refill it whenever you want while it’s operating.

Is the IS5100 safe to leave on between uses?

Always treat the IS5100 as you would any hot appliance, even though it has an automatic shut-off feature in case the water runs out or the machine overheats.

Where can I find the official instruction manual for the Rowenta IS5100?

The Rowenta IS5100 Garment Steamer Instruction Guide is available for direct download from the Rowenta website or the local Rowenta support page. For precise search results, use the product’s model number, which can be located on the base label.

How do I know when the Rowenta IS5100 is ready to use?

Water spitting may result from hitting the steam trigger before the light has stabilised.
