Safety Instructions

Fuel

• Petrol is highly flammable and in some situations explosive.

• Avoid spilling fuel. Spilt fuel and fumes from the spilt fuel can easily ignite.
• Wipe up any spilt fuel before starting the engine.
• Handle and fill up with fuel outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, with the engine switched off and at a safe distance from sparks and naked flames.

Assembly

Fitting the shaft

1. Press in the bottom part of the shaft (b) as far as it will go, so that the lock pin (a) goes in the hole (c) in the shaft. If necessary, turn the bottom part of the shaft (b) back and forth to make it easier. Check that the lock pin (a) has gone completely into the hole.
2. Firmly tighten the locking screw (d).

Handle

Put the rubber cap (3) on the shaft between the two arrows. Fit the top part of the handle (2) and the bottom part (4) on the shaft with the screws (1) and nuts (5), and firmly tighten. FIG. 3

Guard

Align the hole in the casing to the hole in the fastener, put the screw through the hole in the guard and fastener and lock in place with the wing nut. FIG. 4

Trimmer head

Put the hex key in the hole to lock the fastener, put the trimmer head on the axle and turn the trimmer head clockwise to firmly screw it on. FIG. 5

How to Use

FUEL

• Risk of personal injury.
• Petrol is highly flammable and can, in some circumstances, be explosive.
• Switch off the engine and allow it to cool before refilling with fuel.
• Follow all the safety instructions for handling fuel.
• Always refuel before use.

Filling

1. Shake the container with the fuel mixture.
2. Place the clearing saw on a level, stable surface with the fuel cap facing upwards.
3. Clean the filler cap and the area around the opening to avoid contamination entering the tank.
4. Carefully open the filler cap so any overpressure is relieved. Use a funnel and do not overfill. FIG. 6
5. Carefully fill up with fuel. Avoid spilling.
6. Replace the filler cap and tighten firmly.
7. Wipe off spilt fuel and allow any fuel residue to evaporate before starting the engine.

Starting the Trimmer

1. Put the power switch in the ON position, press the throttle control B, throttle control A and the safety catch, so that the throttle control A locks in the half-pressed position.
2. Move the choke lever to the OFF position. FIG. 7
3. Press the primer bulb at least 10 times before starting the trimmer for the first time. FIG. 8
4. To start the engine, pull the starter cord slowly until it catches (10–15 cm) and then pull it out fully a few times to turn the engine over and distribute the oil.
5. Move the choke lever to the N position.
6. Pull the starter cord until the engine starts. FIG. 9
7. Press in throttle control A and B. When the engine is idling, use throttle control A to control the speed.
8. When using the trimmer head,thee feed mechanism must be tapped against the ground first to feed out the line. FIG. 10
9. Stop the rotation of the trimmer head by releasing throttle control A and B.
10. Turn off the engine by pressing the power switch.
11. The choke lever can be in the OFF position when starting if the engine is hot.

Maintainance

Switch off the engine, release the spark plug lead from the spark plug and allow the engine to cool before cleaning and/or maintenance.

Starter

Screw Joint

Check that all screw joints are properly tightened at regular intervals and that the handle sits firmly.

Spark Plug

• Regularly check the spark plug and remove any deposits with a wire brush.

• Refit the spark plug and tighten with the supplied spanner.

Air Filter

Clean the air filter after an interval of 12 working hours to ensure proper and safe functionality. The engine can be damaged if it is run without a properly functioning filter.

1. Undo the screw, remove the filter cover, and the filter unit. FIG. 12 FIG. 13
2. Wash the filter unit with water and a mild detergent. Do not use petrol or solvents.
3. Allow the filter to dry in the air.

Do not start the engine without an air filter.

Sharpening the Blade

1. Remove the line blade (A) from the guard (B) by undoing the screws (C). FIG. 14
2. Put the line blade in a vice and sharpen it with a flat file. Make sure to maintain the angle of the edge.
3. Refit the line blade on the guard.

• Clean the clearing saw well after use and check that it is in good condition and that no parts are missing or damaged.
