    3. Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning.

    13. Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use.
    14. Never drape a cord over the edge of the counter, never use an outlet below the counter, and never use an extension cord.

    Electrical Shock Hazard

This appliance is provided with a polarised plug (one wide blade) to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one way into a polarised outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, have an electrician replace the outlet.

    Clock & Lid

    • Please handle the crock and lid carefully to ensure long life.
    • Avoid sudden, extreme temperature changes.
    • For example, do not place a hot lid or crock into cold water, or onto a wet surface.
    • Avoid hitting the crock or lid against the faucet or other hard surfaces.
    • Do not use a crock or lid if chipped, cracked, or severely scratched.

    Using Keep Warm Setting

    • Food must be hot enough to prevent bacterial growth before using the Keep Warm setting.
    • The Keep Warm setting should only be used after a recipe has been thoroughly cooked.
    • Do not reheat food on the Keep Warm setting.
    • If food has been cooked and then refrigerated, reheat it on Low or High; then switch to Keep Warm.

    Transportation

The Lid Latch™ helps secure the lid while moving or transporting. Only use Lid Latch™ while cooking if the lid has vent holes.

    1. Place the latch into the groove under one handle. Stretch to the other side and secure in the groove of the other handle.
    2. Once attached, the latch can also be crossed over the knob to further secure the lid.
    3. Move the wire clips up onto the lid and push down on the clip latch to secure the slow cooker for transporting.

    Food

    • Do not use frozen, uncooked meat in the slow cooker. Thaw any meat or poultry before slow cooking.
    • Instead, divide leftovers into smaller containers and place them in the refrigerator.
    • Never allow undercooked or raw meat to sit at room temperature in the slow cooker.
    • Once the meat is placed into the crock, it should be cooked immediately.

    Care and Cleaning

Disconnect power before cleaning. Do not immerse the cord, plug, or base in any liquid.

    1. Unplug.
    2. Remove the crock and let it cool.
    3. Wipe the base with a soft, damp cloth or sponge and dry.
    4. Wash the lid and crock in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
    5. The lid and crock may also be washed in a dishwasher.

    Troubleshooting

    Food is undercooked

    • Was food cooked on the KEEP WARM setting? Only cook on the LOW or HIGH setting.
    • Was power interrupted?
    • Did you select the LOW heat setting, but use a cooking time based on the HIGH heat setting?
    • The crock was overfilled. For best results, fill the crock no more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the lid.
    • The lid was not placed correctly. Check to make sure the Hamilton Beach 33195 10 Quart Slow Cooker lid is seated properly on the crock.

    My meal was overcooked. Why?

    • Foods will continue to cook in the Hamilton Beach 33195 10 Quart Slow Cooker until the desired temperature has been reached. Check the food when the cooking time has been reached.
    • Did you select the HIGH heat setting, but use a cooking time based on the LOW heat setting?
    • Crock was less than half full. Check for doneness 1 to 2 hours earlier than the recipe states.

The food isn’t done after cooking the amount of time recommended in my recipe.

    • This can be due to voltage variations (which are commonplace everywhere) or altitude. The slight fluctuations in power do not have a noticeable effect on the Hamilton Beach 33195 10 Quart Slow Cooker on most appliances. However, they can alter the cooking times in the slow cooker by extending them. You will learn through experience if a shorter or longer time is needed.

    FAQs

Q: What size meals can I prepare in the 10-quart slow cooker?

For huge roasts, whole chickens, large amounts of chilli, soups, stews, or meal preparation for large families and groups, a 10-quart size is perfect. Don’t fill more than ¾ of the container; always leave room at the top for circulation.

Q: Can I preheat the slow cooker?

Indeed. Food can reach a temperature more quickly and have better consistency if it is preheated for ten to fifteen minutes before ingredients are added.

Q: Is it safe to lift the lid while cooking?

Unless stirring is needed near the finish, it’s better not to lift the cover. The cooking time is extended by 20 to 30 minutes with each rise.

Q: Can I cook frozen meat in the slow cooker?

Meat should be completely thawed before cooking for safety. Frozen meat may remain in the “danger zone” for an extended period of time in slow cookers.

Q: Why is moisture collecting inside the lid?

This is normal. Condensation drips back into the pot to maintain moisture and prevent drying. Tilt the lid briefly when serving if you prefer less liquid.

Q: Can I use the ceramic crock in the oven or microwave?

The majority of Hamilton Beach crocks are safe in the oven (without the lid) up to a specific temperature, but not in the microwave. Prior to using the oven, always read the label.

Q: How do I layer ingredients for the best results?

Put the meat and root vegetables (onions, potatoes, and carrots) on the bottom, then cover with sauces or liquids. This aids in distributing heat evenly.
