    FAQs

Q: What is the purpose of the Icron RV2850 USB 1.1 Extender?

With the RV2850, you can use a Cat5e/6 Ethernet cable to expand USB 1.1 devices up to 50 meters beyond the typical 5-meter USB cable restriction. Keyboards, mice, printers, scanners, cameras, and other USB 1.1 devices are all perfect for it.

Q: Can I use USB 2.0 or 3.0 devices with this extender?

Only USB 1.1 is supported by the RV2850. High-speed capabilities like HD video streaming and quick data transfer won’t work with USB 2.0 or 3.0 devices, even though they might operate at 1.1 speeds.

Q: What type of Ethernet cable should I use?

For dependable performance, use a straight-through Cat5e or Cat6 cable.

Q: Do I need any software or drivers to use the extender?

The RV2850 is a plug-and-play device. The majority of operating systems will automatically identify USB devices that are connected. Make sure your host computer has the USB device drivers installed.

Q: Can I power the extender through USB alone?

Use the accompanying external power adapters for dependable operation, particularly for higher-powered peripherals, even though some low-power devices might function with USB alone.

Q: Can multiple USB devices be connected to one RV2850?

It is possible to connect several devices to the Remote Unit by connecting a USB hub to it. All devices share the entire bandwidth; nevertheless, high-speed gadgets might perform worse.

Q: Is the system compatible with Macs and PCs?

Indeed. For common USB 1.1 devices, the RV2850 is OS-independent. It is compatible with Linux, macOS, and Windows computers that have USB 1.1 peripheral capability.
