    Ingredients

Baking a great bread will largely depend on 3 main factors: quality, freshness, and correct measurement of quantities.

    Toasting Frozen Bread

To toast frozen bread, place the bread into the bread slots and select the desired Browning Setting. Press the carriage control lever down until it clicks into place,e then press the Frozen Button.

    Flour

Flour is the basic component of bread. The weight of the flour varies, depending on the type of flour used. It is therefore necessary that you weigh the right quantity on a pair of scales. Please make sure you buy a variety of flour that is suitable for bread making. Check the packing.

    Yeast

This ability is ideal for the bread to rise and to make it lighter and easier to digest. We recommend the use of dry yeast for this breadmaker. This (granular) yeast is easier to work with, keeps for a longer time than fresh yeast, and generally gives you a better result as well.

    Salt

Salt not only lends the bread a certain flavour but also regulates the activity of the yeast, strengthens the dough, and prevents the bread from rising too hard.

    Butter/Oil

Butter and oil improve the general taste of the bread and equally soften it. Butter or oil should both be at room temperature when you add them to the other ingredients.

    Sugar

Sugar is the nutrient that the yeast feeds on and is of great importance for the bread’s rising process. You can use plain white sugar, brown sugar, syrup, or honey. Sugar lends the bread a certain soft and delicate flavour, increases its nutritional value, and also renders the bread less perishable. Look out: you should not use unrefi ned sugar or sugar lumps when you want to make, e.g., cinnamon bread, for they can damage the non-stick coating of the bread pan.

    Water

When the flour mixes with the water, the gluten will form, and air can no longer enter, thus enabling 3 the bread to rise. At normal temperature, you should use tepid water to make bread: cold water will not activate the yeast, and warm water will achieve the opposite result.

    Milk

Milk adds greatly to the colour of the bread (brown for the crust, creamy on the inside), improves the overall taste of the bread, and increases its nutritional value. Should you choose to use fresh milk, do not forget to reduce the amount of water in order to maintain the right level of humidity. CAREFUL: Do not use fresh milk if you are going to choose the baking program with the time delay function, for the milk could turn sour.

    Other Ingredients

In some cookery books, you may come across recipes requiring the use of herbs, nuts, currants, fruit, or vegetables. Always use fresh ingredients. When you want to use nuts, sunflower seeds, dried fruit, or similar ingredients, we recommend that they be soaked in water and dried before adding them to the dough. Always ensure these ingredients are not too large, for they may damage the non-stick coating.

    Cleaning

    • Always ensure that the toaster is unplugged and has cooled down before removing and emptying the crumb tray.
    • Your toaster comes with a removable, slide-out crumb tray.
    • This is a quick and convenient way to remove crumbs.
    • Clean the crumb tray with a damp cloth and always dry the tray properly before replacing it in the toaster.
    • Use a stiff brush to remove any burnt-on crumbs. Wipe the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth.
    • Do not use a sharp object or abrasive substance on the Anko ST-484 Stainless Steel Toaster to clean the toaster.

    FAQs

Q: What type of toaster is the Anko ST-484?

Bread, bagels, and other baked goods may be uniformly and effectively browned with the Anko ST-484, a 2-slice stainless steel electric toaster.

Q: What is the power rating of this toaster?

Depending on your local electrical requirements, the toaster runs at between 800 and 1000 W. This makes toasting quick and uniform.

Q: How do I adjust the browning level?

Typically, the browning dial goes from 1 (bright) to 6 (dark). Adapt to your own tastes. Try a variety of settings to get the colour you want for your toast.

Q: Can I toast bagels or thick slices?

Yes, the toaster slots are large enough to accommodate thicker slices, bagels, and artisan bread. For best results, toast just one side using the Bagel/Speciality mode, if it is offered.

Q: Does the toaster have a cancel function?

Yes, the majority of devices have a cancel button that allows you to stop toasting whenever you want. When you press this, the bread will pop up right away.

Q: Can I toast frozen bread?

Indeed, the toaster can defrost frozen bread. For consistent toasting, turn the browning dial and choose the defrost option.

Q: Is the toaster safe to use near water?

No, to prevent electric shock, keep the toaster away from sinks and damp surfaces. When using the device, always make sure your hands are dry.

Q: Can I toast pastries or croissants?

Yes, but stay away from tiny objects that might slip between the slots. If appropriate, use the Bagel/Speciality setting.
