    Before First Use

    • Check the inner cooking plates to make sure they are clean and free of dust.
    • Clean them with a damp cloth. Use indoors only.
    • If the appliance is switched on, do not leave it unattended.
    • Grease both sides of the cooking plates lightly. Plug into the socket.
    • The red lamp will light up. Before you can start baking, you need to preheat the waffle appliance.
    • With the waffle-maker closed, this will take about 3 to 5 minutes.
    • The green light will turn on, indicating that the waffle-maker has reached the correct temperature.
    • This is normal. For hygienic reasons, do not eat the first waffles made; throw them away.

    Using the Appliance

    1. Pour, when the green light goes on, the waffle batter into the middle of the lower plate.
    2. Use a wooden or heatproof plastic spatula to dough to distribute the batter evenly over the baking plates. Then use the handle to close.
    3. For golden waffles, it’s best to turn the dial to “medium” (Middle position).
    4. Never use metal objects, because they can damage the specially coated non-stick surface.
    5. If you have finished baking, remove the plug from the socket.

    Cleaning & Maintainance

    • Do not use harsh, abrasive, or corrosive cleaning agents. Clean the appliance after each use.
    • Unplug the electric lead and wait until the appliance has cooled sufÏciently.
    • It is easier to clean your waffle-maker if it’s a bit warm.
    • Carefully clean the specially coated metal baking plates with a soft cloth to remove baking deposits.
    • When not in use, store the appliance on a flat, dry surface.

    FAQs

Q: How long does it take to preheat?

It usually takes three to five minutes for the waffle maker to reach cooking temperature.

Q: How much batter should I use per waffle?

Pour around ½ cup (100–125 ml) of batter into the middle of the lower plate for optimal results.

Q: Can I adjust the browning level of the waffles?

The thermostat control on the DO9047W/N automatically maintains the ideal temperature.

Q: How will I know when the waffles are done?

Batter type and desire determine how long it takes to cook, although it usually takes four to six minutes. It is common for the green indicator light to cycle on and off. When the steam subsides and the waffles are golden brown, carefully open the lid.

Q: Do I need to use oil or butter on the plates?

Little oil is needed because of the non-stick coating. But before adding batter, lightly coat the plates with oil or melted butter to enhance texture and flavour, particularly for the initial few uses.

Q: Can the baking plates be removed for cleaning?

No. After the unit has cooled, the plates on the DO9047W/N should be thoroughly cleaned in place using a moist cloth or soft brush.

Q: Why is there steam coming from the waffle maker during cooking?

The steam is a sign that moisture is escaping from the batter while it cooks, which is quite normal. The texture of the waffle may change if the lid is opened when the steam is heavy.
