Safety Instructions
- Make sure that the unit has reached the desired temperature before loading the unit with products.
- Make sure that there is proper ventilation around the unit in the area where it will operate.
- Do not attempt to remove or repair any component of the unit. Consult an authorized service technician for servicing/repair.
- Do not stand inside the unit.
- Read through the manual in its entirety.
- This unit is designed to perform in a temperature-controlled environment at 55% relative humidity. The unit should be located away from doors, air ducts, and fans that could disrupt airflow and negatively impact performance.
Cabinet Location Guide
- Install the unit on a strong and level surface.
- If the surface is uneven, the unit may be noisy.

Electrical
- Please ensure that the required voltage is being supplied at all times.
- The unit should be plugged into a grounded and properly sized electrical circuit with appropriate over-current protection.
- This equipment must be run on a dedicated circuit. Not doing so may damage the equipment.
- Do not use extension cords.
- Do not unplug your cooler by pulling on the power cord. Grip the plug firmly and pull straight out from the outlet.
- Ensure the unit is not resting on or against the electrical cord.
- If the unit is not in use for a long period of time, please unplug the unit from the outlet.
- To avoid shock and fire hazards, do not plug in or unplug the unit with wet hands.
- After unplugging the unit, wait at least 10 minutes before plugging it back in.
- Failure to do so could cause damage to the compressor.
Initial Setup
Inspect the Packaging
- Examine the griddle’s packaging for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. If damage has occurred, please reach out to the manufacturer immediately.
Unboxing
- Open the packaging with care. Use scissors or a box cutter to cut open the box, ensuring you do not damage the griddle or its components.
- Remove the machine from its packaging.
- Ensure that all foam and plastic have been removed from both the inside and outside of the machine before use.

Placement
- Ensure a minimum clearance of 12″ on all sides from flammable surfaces. Place the griddle on a stable surface near an electrical outlet.

Cleaning
Remove Protective Covering
- Remove the wax paper from the griddle plate.
Preheat Griddle
- Preheat the griddle to liquefy the protective food-safe oil applied during shipment.
Clean Surface
- Wipe off the melted oil with a clean cloth and rinse using a mixture of ¼ cup vinegar and 1 quart of water.
Season Griddle
- Apply unsalted solid shortening or liquid frying compound evenly over the Turn all burners to medium until the shortening begins to smoke, then turn them off.
Rub in Shortening
- Rub the melted shortening onto the griddle using burlap or a cloth, following the grain of the metal.
Apply Final Coat
- Allow the griddle to cool, then apply a AVANTCO 177EG30N Electric Griddles thin coat of shortening or oil.
Operation
Plug Units
- Plug the griddle into the appropriate outlet; the red “Power” light will illuminate.
Set Temperature
- Turn the temperature knob to the desired setting. The green “Heating” light will illuminate, indicating the heating element is active.
Preheat Griddle
- Preheat for at least 30 minutes before use.
Turn Off Griddle
- To turn off, set the temperature knob to “Off” and unplug the unit to turn off the red “Power” light.
