FAQs
Q: Can I use real chocolate pieces instead of powder?
Ans: Indeed! Real chocolate flakes, buttons, or grated chocolate can be melted and blended with milk with the Dualit Hot Chocolate Maker. Use small, uniformly sized pieces for optimal effects.
Q: Is it suitable for plant-based or non-dairy milk?
Ans: Of course. Almond, soy, oat, coconut, and other non-dairy milks can be used with this device. Some milks may separate slightly when heated, so be sure to stir thoroughly afterward.
Q: How much liquid can it hold?
Ans: Depending on the type, most machines can produce 300–500 ml per batch, which is sufficient for two or three servings. Never go above the MAX fill line.
Q: Can I reheat drinks in the jug?
Ans: Yes, but only if the beverage hasn’t cooled all the way down. Rinse the jug and make a new batch for optimal results. Never use a machine to reheat curdled or thickened milk.
Q: Can I make cold chocolate drinks?
Ans: Indeed, some models have a “froth-only” or “cold stir” feature. Use the stir-only mode after adding the chocolate and cold milk. If this is not supported by your model, make a hot batch and then refrigerate it.
Q: Is the jug dishwasher-safe?
Ans: The non-stick jug is typically not dishwasher safe. Hand wash it with warm, soapy water using a sponge or non-abrasive cloth. Unplug before cleaning at all times.
Q: Can I use water instead of milk?
Ans: Yes, although it can have a less creamy flavour and texture. Premium cocoa powder or drinking chocolate mixtures are ideal for water-based hot chocolate.
Q: Does it froth milk as well?
Ans: To make warm, frothy milk for cappuccinos, lattes, or mochas, the Hot Chocolate Maker can indeed be used as a milk frother. Simply start the heating cycle without chocolate and add milk.
