FAQs
Q: What type of SSDs does the SSD7104F support?
Ans: It is compatible with M-key PCIe Gen3 M.2 NVMe SSDs. There is no support for SATA M.2 drives.
Q: What type of PCIe slot is required for installation?
Ans: For full bandwidth support, the SSD7104F needs to be inserted into a full x16 PCIe 3.0 slot.
Q: Is this card a RAID controller or just an adapter?
Ans: It is a RAID controller that supports hardware RAID. RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, and JBOD can be set up using HighPoint’s management tools.
Q: How many drives can I install on the SSD7104F?
Ans: Each of its four internal M.2 slots can accommodate a 2280 (80mm) M.2 NVMe SSD, either single-sided or double-sided.
Q: What kind of performance can I expect with 4 drives?
Ans: Expect a throughput of up to 14GB/s when all four drives are in RAID 0, with PCIe Gen3 x16 bandwidth and SSD capabilities serving as limits.
Q: Can I boot from a RAID array created with this card?
Ans: Sure, provided that your motherboard is capable of UEFI boot from NVMe RAID. The RAID driver for HighPoint must be installed during OS installation.
