    Installation

    • The 801 and 802 flow meters give the best accuracy when there is a smooth, unobstructed flow through them.
    • To minimize turbulence, there should be at least 12″/30cm of straight plumbing upstream from the flow meter and at least 6″/15cm of straight plumbing downstream from the flow meter.
    • A straight, vertical section of the main boom supply line is the ideal location for the flow meter.
    • This is particularly important in cold weather when water might freeze in the flow meter and cause damage to the unit.
    • It is also important when applying chemical suspensions, which may settle out and stall the flow meter turbine if they cannot drain away.

    How To Install

Before installing the flow meter insert, make sure there are no obstructions in the insert cavity. Clearance at the bottom of the cavity is very close, and over-compressing of foreign material in the cavity can cause damage to the flow meter body. For 801, turn the insert locking collar until it is hand-tight.

Before each day’s spraying, the flow meter should be inspected to ensure there are no leaks around the attachment fittings. However, continued use over time will eventually wear the internal bearings and shafts until the meter becomes inaccurate. Replacement kits are available to repair the flow meters. Contact your TeeJet Technologies dealer for these parts.

    FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the TeeJet 801 and 802 Flow Meters?

Ans: Although both the 801 and 802 types are precision flow meters, they differ in terms of size compatibility and flow rate capabilities. While the 801 is appropriate for standard-rate applications, the 802 is usually utilised for larger systems and higher flow rates.

Q: What types of fluids can these flow meters measure?

Ans: Clean, non-corrosive liquids, such as fertilisers and water-based agricultural chemicals, can be measured by the 801/802 flow meters. Avoid utilising with excessively viscous or debris-filled fluids.

Q: What is the recommended installation orientation?

Ans: The arrow on the housing of a flow meter should point in the direction of the flow when it is placed horizontally. Vertical meter installation may compromise accuracy and cause malfunctions.

Q: How do I connect the flow meter to my spray controller?

Ans: Usually, a compatible TeeJet controller or display system is connected to the flow meter using two- or three-wire signal cords. Refer to the guide’s wiring schematic for your particular model.

Q: Does the flow meter require a straight pipe section before and after?

Ans: Indeed. Install the meter with at least 10 inches of straight piping before and 5 inches after the device to stabilise flow and lessen turbulence for reliable readings.

Q: How is the flow rate signal generated?

Ans: An internal turbine in the meter rotates in tandem with the flow. The controller receives pulse signals from a magnetic pickup sensor that monitors the turbine revolutions. The flow is proportional to the pulse rate.

Q: Can I install the flow meter near a pump or valve?

Ans: Do not place the meter adjacent to an elbow, valve, or pump. These can decrease the accuracy of readings by causing flow disruptions. As directed by the handbook, use enough straight pipe parts.
