    9. Connect one end of the replacement ignition cable (6) to the spark electrode on the burner and the other end to the spark transformer (see Figure 1) on the replacement DSI control board (1).

    Connect Wiring

    • Connect the P3 5-pin wire assembly (3) to the thermostat terminal strip as shown in Figure 1.
    • Connect the P1 9-pin wire assembly (2) as shown in Figure 1.
    • As necessary, shorten wires and install replacement terminals (8).
    • Connect existing wires to the DSI control board (1) wire terminals.
    • If the terminal on the line voltage wire is 3/16 inch, cut off the terminal, strip the wire, and install quick quick-connect terminal (7).
    • Connect the line voltage wire to terminal L1. Connect one end of the 24-inch red wire assembly (4) to the rollout switch located on the burner box top.
    • Connect the other end to the high limit switch wire lead using a wire nut (9).
    • Install cable ties (10) as necessary for routing and excess wire length.

Adhere the wiring diagram label (12, see Figure 2) on the left panel inside the burner compartment.

    FAQs

Q: What is the purpose of the CAUA Ignition Controller Replacement Kit?

In compatible Reznor devices, this kit enables the replacement of an old or malfunctioning ignition controller. The heater’s starter and flame control are managed by the ignition controller, guaranteeing dependable and safe operation.

Q: Which Reznor units are compatible with this kit?

The kit works with heaters from the CAUA series as well as other types listed in the installation manual. Before installing, make sure your unit’s model and serial number match the kit compatibility list.

    Q: Is professional installation required?

Indeed. High-voltage and gas connections are involved in ignition systems, and incorrect installation might pose a risk to public safety. The replacement should be done by a certified HVAC specialist.

Q: Do I need to disconnect power and gas before installation?

Of course. Cut off the unit’s gas supply and all electrical power. To avoid mishaps during installation, adhere to the correct lockout/tagout protocols.

Q: Can I bypass the ignition controller if it fails?

No, it is risky and against the law to circumvent the ignition controller. It will void the warranty and may result in fire, gas leaks, or system damage.

Q: Will installing this kit affect the unit’s warranty?

If a qualified technician installs it correctly and follows Reznor’s instructions, the warranty shouldn’t be void.
